Steam Trap Leak Detector Rentals
Steam traps have a tendency to leak, which can add up to hundreds of dollars per year of wasted steam for a single steam trap. This was probably less important when the original steam system was built years ago, but with today’s energy prices, it is critical to detect and correct failures quickly.
Keystone operates a leak detector rental program within Canada. This is a cost-efficient and easy way to conduct your own steam trap survey.
How does it work?
Renting a steam trap leak detector from Keystone is simple. Rental costs are per-day Monday-Saturday. There is no charge for Sunday.
Download our Leak Detector Rental Agreement. Fill it out, sign it, scan it and email it back to us (or drop it off in person)
Send us your purchase order with the courier shipping info or come pick-up the leak detector in person if you’re local.
Use your rental leak detector for your expected rental duration. Don’t worry if you need it longer, just give us a heads up. You won’t be charged for the rental until it has been returned.
Ship or drop-off the leak detector back to us when you’re done. Once we’ve determined the unit is in good working condition we will invoice or charge your credit card for the actual rental duration.

Do you have questions about steam trap leak detection?
A leaking steam trap can…
- Waste valuable heating $$$
- Destroy condensate pumps
- Create hot and cold spots within a heating space
- Cause production inefficiency of process equipment
- Produce destructive water hammer
- Lead to undue wear on, and premature failure of, other traps
As long as it’s available and not already in use by another customer, we rent our Bestobell steam trap ultrasonic leak detector. This is our preferred leak detector to use and is no longer available to be sold outright.
Should this leak detector already be in use, we have several other models that can be rented out, such as Sontector, Red Diamond, HyperTone and Biddle. Alternatively, you can be added to the waiting list and rent out the Bestobell unit as soon as it becomes available.
Yes! And this may be the preferable (and more cost-effective) option if you frequently need to check for leaking steam traps. Head over to our steam trap leak detectors for sale page for more information on the units that we have available to sell.
